Whew. We have to admit, 2014 was a pretty remarkable year for Olli Salumeria. We got a nice write-up in the Washington Post. We also had good press in several regional magazines, and were paid a visit by some respected food writers – Bunkycooks. Our Norcino Salamini was nominated for Best New Product at the Summer Fancy Food Show. We started shipping to Canada, and broke ground on a second Olli Salumeria in California.
About that: Progress has been great, and we’re on schedule to open in early 2015.
Oh, and the Winter Fancy Food Show is just over a week away. Starting January 11th, we’ll be at The Muscone Center in lovely San Francisco for 3 days. 80,000 products from 1,300 exhibitors. We’ll be at booth 4517, and we hope to see you there.
But back to our year…
It’s remarkable to us how much we’ve grown in such a few short years. What started out in a few select Central Virginia markets has grown to national retail (or International if you count Canada!). We’re in Whole Foods, Costco, the Williams-Sonoma catalog, at Harry and David, and were even featured on the Today Show. We have you to thank for that.
When we started, using family recipes that went back generations, we knew that people would respond to the care and patience we put into creating quality cured meats. What we’re doing isn’t revolutionary. Oliviero Colmignoli’s family has been doing it for over 160 years. What we are doing is creating cured meats in a time-honored way that respects the very best pork we can find, from respectable farmers, and using these techniques and flavorful pork to make artisan salumi. And you clearly enjoy it. So thank you.
Lastly, if you’ve discovered that you missed someone this holiday season, head over to our Shop page and rectify your error. They might enjoy one of our special Salami & Cheese Pairings. Grab a Mix and Match to offer your loved one a trifecta of Olli goodness. Or perhaps you received the gift of Olli this holiday? Nothing will compliment your gift more than a deluxe Olli cutting board.
We hope that everyone has had a wonderful holiday, a safe New Year’s, and best wishes for a fantastic 2015.
